Story Behind Imber

Fans of OCCIDIS might already know the lyrics to the songs (and they can be found on the OCCIDIS myspace page http://www.myspace.com/occidis) but not many people know the stories behind the songs so I've decided that every week I will post the backstory to the songs on here so that fans can know more about the band and about what they are telling you.

The first story I'm going to tell you about is Imber.

Imber is based on Elizabeth Bathory, a Hungarian Countess that has been labelled the most infamous serial killer in Central European history and is remembered as the "Blood Countess," "Countess Dracula" and as the "Bloody Lady of Csejte."

She is believed to have murdered over 650 young women (in a 25 year period) and bathing in their blood in attempt to regain her youth.

She got her start as a murderess when one of her young servants was brushing her hair and pulled her hair. Elizabeth hit her and got blood on her hand. When she went to wipe the blood away she noticed that her skin looked younger and thought that blood was the answer to the fountain of youth and so she began torturing and killing servant girls and local peasants.

Her methods of torture are said to have been severe beatings, burning and mutilation of the victims, biting, freezing and starving to death and bad surgery.
